Day in the LifePre-K4Based on the latest research on child development, Pre-K4 (UPK) at St. Simon Stock School lays the foundation for success in elementary school and beyond. The program includes hands-on center time, creative learning and innovative methods of monitoring children’s progress. We devote time to building student independence and teamwork, fostering classroom readiness and nurturing student imagination. The program utilizes learning centers and unique materials to support the curriculum, including interactive SMART boards and iPads. |

Day in the LifeKindergartenOur Kindergarten class is academically oriented with creative and interactive activities. The teachers direct the children to learn the basic ground rules of "work". The three major learning area are Language (Phonics), Mathematics and Practical Life skills including manners, proper greetings and respect. Eventually, the children become more independent in completing the tasks set before them. |

Day in the LifeGrades 1 and 2First and second graders at St. Simon Stock School further dive into their Math and ELA education, beginning work with manipulatives and increasingly complex concepts. Students work on their core studies via whole class instruction and small group collaboration that fosters leadership skills, teamwork and critical analysis. In Science, they conduct hands-on experiments, and in Social Studies, they focus on American history. Project-based learning encourages creativity and develops macro thinking. |

Day in the LifeGrades 3 - 5Third, fourth and fifth grade students assume greater responsibility for their learning and are challenged to further develop their foundational skills. Cross-curricular approaches encourage students to present and defend ideas in their speech and writing. English Language Arts continues with poetry, author studies, and independent reading, the New York Philharmonic school day program, art appreciation and the supervised after-school program with homework assistance and recreational activities augment the curriculum and ensure well-rounded interests. |

Day in the LifeGrades 6 - 8Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students thrive as student role models as they prepare for high school, college and beyond. The middle school students benefit from a rigorous curriculum combined with arts and music that allows them to explore their interests and define their strengths. Through the Friends of Nick program, the student leaders build habits of integrity, hard work and compassion. Secondary advising is available for seventh and eighth grade students to help guide them through the high school application process. |
