Saint Simon Stock School has been part of the Bronx community for over 90 years. February 2, 1926, we opened the doors to our community under the supervision of the Carmelite priest and the Sister of Mercy. Cardinal Patrick Hayes, who spearhead the mission to build St. Simon Stock School, had three noble reasons: to introduce Catholic education to school-aged children of the community, to provide space to the numerous children of new parishioners, and to prepare for more children in the future. Due to the exponential growth of the community at the time, larger numbers of apartment building were being constructed. The increase of families were flowing into our Bronx community.
The expansion of the community effect our school population, in 1929, the top floor was added to accommodate for high school students. We are proud of the thirty-two students in the first graduation Class of 1929. Saint Simon Stock School has experienced several improvements in the past 91 years as a result, parents of the community have placed full trust in St. Simon Stock School in its ability to educate their children in various aspects of their young lives.
Saint Simon Stock has recently added a rooftop garden and Pre-K for All program. We have incorporated several educational programs to enhance the students learning experience.
